Meeting of 2002-03/01
CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS MEETING OF MARCH 1, 2002

PRESENT:   H. Hasenjager, R. Pease, P. Lovell, J. Nothe and G. Bingle
Al Wilcox also attended this meeting. Mr. Szarlan was absent.

The meeting of February 1, 2002 was not held due to inclement weather.

Mr. Hasenjager called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the clerk and accepted with a motion by Mr. Pease and seconded by Mr. Hasenjager.

OLD BUSINESS:

Budget Up-date – The Finance Committee said they want all the Departments to cut 5% &
10% from the total amounts they received last year. This could be 5% & 10% from salary expenses and operating expenses, or you could combine the two amounts and take that total off of the operating expenses only or it could all come from the salary account. For example, if the Cemetery Department wanted to, they could take the whole cut in the budget from the Seasonal Labor Account and transfer the whole amount needed from the Gifts and Bequest Account into the seasonal help. Mr. Hasenjager said if we need the extra funds next year to pay for the seasonal help, the Commissioners would approve making a transfer from the Gifts & Bequest Account, as they feel the seasonal help is very important in maintaining the cemeteries. The prior budget that the Cemetery Department submitted in January didn’t show any cuts in the salary expenses, only in the operating accounts, so the budget we submitted was less than they were asking for us to cut which is why we need to do some more cutting somewhere.

NEW BUSINESS:

Clutch for Tractor –Paul said a transfer might be needed  to replace the clutch in the
tractor. Dave Beyor, who has a garage by Buddy Murray, said he would be willing to do the repair work for approximately $600.00 to $800.00. Paul said he thought the transfer might be as much as $1,000.00 before the job is completed. Paul said he would try to hold off on the repair until April, after the winter graves are filled in.

Donation of Granite Bench from Country Memorials – Don Boucier, owner of Country
Memorials told Paul he would prefer placing the bench in the little garden on the knoll. The Commissioners agreed the bench could be placed anywhere that it looks good and also agreed the granite bench being donated by Country Memorials could be placed in the garden on the knoll.

Mr. Pease made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:15 a.m. Mr. Hasenjager seconded the motion.

Respectfully Submitted,

Gaylin Bingle
Clerk
